Today, the fishing report will cover the striper activity on Beaver Lake. My Texas friends booked BIG DOG (Bob) for a half day of striper fishing and invited me to join them (thank you very much!). We met Bob at Starkey Marina at 6:00 AM and headed out to see if the front passing through on the previous evening had discouraged the fish from biting. Although the bite was not up to the normal summer bite, we boated 4 out of six that hit the bait. There were a few other guide boats on the lake, none of which boated a fish while we were nearby. We marked several large schools of stripers in our travels, both with nearby bait balls and loners. The fish did not seem to get too excited about taking the shad, as verified by their empty stomachs noted when they were cleaned. The lake water temperature had dropped from 82 degrees yesterday to 80 this morning. It seemed odd having to be bundled up to fish in early September! Big Dog did his usual great job both finding the fish and closing the deal on them.Really enjoyed fishing this week. Hope you get out in this cooler weather and do the same. There is generation scheduled from 1 through 6 PM this afternoon. The high temperature is supposed to reach 69 delightful degrees F. under mostly sunny skies. The wind is from the north at 8 MPH.
