Three of us fished down river from Bertrand launch ramp beginning at 1:30 PM and found that the trout are still 'tearing it up.' Reached our limit within one hour, even with catch and release of the little ones. We successfully used the following colors of power bait: spring green, nymph grape, white, rainbow, fluorescent orange, garlic, pink, yellow, red-white-blue, chartreuse and salmon peach. The only bait that they totally ignored was the hatchery formula. Guess that brown is out today. There were several fishermen out at the same location; and they were doing well. If you plan on launching at Bertrand, plan on staying pretty close to the ramp, since the water is very low. You will be able to get to Spider Creek Resort from Bertrand, but not downstream from the island. If you launch at Houseman Access, do not get your hopes up for making it upstream as far as the other side of the island, either. The water just down river from the Hwy 62 bridge is extremely shallow. That is the sad news. The good news is that if you find a hole in the river and the water temperature is right for trout, it is most likely full of hungry fish. Hope you get out this week and try your luck. The generation for the day is slated from 4 through 6 PM at 44% of capability. The weather for today is expected to bring us a high temperature of 81 degrees F. under partly cloudy skies with winds from the SW at 6 MPH.
