Hi fishing folk! Today, Sam and I went out to try our luck as soon as I arrived home from the airport. (Somebody was in the Sunshine State while the rest of the business suffered in the snow and ice). At any rate, Sam and I fished downstream from the Bertrand launch ramp. The trout were slow to bite, but limiting out would have been no big problem if we were keeping fish. There were a few other fishermen there who had caught a few on power bait eggs, and one fly-fisherman using a black midge. Since he did not fare too well, he switched to bait. Later in the up-coming week, we plan to check out the river, both up and downstream from Houseman Access. Some guides have related to us that the walleye are becoming pretty active in the Holiday Island area. We will keep you informed on what we find in the next few days. The high temperature today was 59 degrees F. under sunny skies with winds from the SW at 6 MPH. Tomorrow, there is no generation scheduled. The high temperature is expected to hit 55 degrees F. with lots of sunshine and winds from the south at 6 MPH, gusting to 9. Do not forget to 'spring ahead' with the clocks tomorrow!
