Over the past few days, bank fishing at locations other than Bertrand has left a little bit to be desired. Tuesday, I fished close to the 100 yard mark from Beaver Dam and off the gravel bar downstream from the launch ramp. The fishing nearest the dam was nonexistent while the gravel bar bite was slow, about every 20 minutes.Wednesday, the bite at the holes down river from the Parker ramps pretty much was a reflection of Tuesday’s action.....slow to none. Was told that the stocking truck could not access the river near the dam because they would have to back too far into the river to find adequate depth to release fish. The stocking pipe at Parker is still buried under gravel, so stocking there is not feasible. The truck then moved to Bertrand, where all of the trout were released. Based on that information, I fished at the Bertrand launch ramp from 7 to 8 AM today and caught 4 trout in 45 minutes. The trout were pretty active until the water began to flow back toward the Beaver Dam. This is caused because Table Rock Dam downriver was not generating, so the water released from Beaver could not flow through, causing the water to back up and flow back upstream. This is not an unusual phenomenon. Generation today is scheduled from 10 AM through 9 PM. The high temperature for today should be 73º F. under cloudy skies. Watch out for late morning and afternoon thundershowers. The winds are predicted to be from the NNE at 5 MPH.
