Sam and I fished from the bank at Parker Bend this morning at 6:40 and caught some trout, including one brown, before the generation began in earnest. We moved to White Bass Cove, where we found no white bass. After a welcome cup of coffee at Beaver Dam Store, we headed back to the shop and decided that we should try our luck in the Beaver area. At 3 PM, we launched a boat and moved to the cove at the mouth of Butler Creek. There were several boats fishing in the cove, but the whites were no longer in the mood to bite. The trout, however, were another story. They were far up into the cove, next to the bluffs. We were trolling with Rapala CD 5 and 7s. I believe that the whites would have come out to play if we had remained a little later. This is because we marked several schools of them in the cove. But it had been a LONG day, so, in we went. If you get the chance early tomorrow, try the cove for whites and the occasional walleye. There is generation scheduled for 8 through 10 AM and PM. The high temperature tomorrow is expected to reach 57 degrees F. under cloudy skies with winds from the SSE at 10 MPH, gusting to 17. There is a thundershower predicted for the noon hour, so take all precautions not to get 'lit up'.
