Launched at Houseman Access at 7:30 this morning and did a quick troll from the launch ramp to just downstream from Blue Spring and back to the ramp area. Came up blank, so we headed up river about a mile to fish with bait. The water temperature from Hwy 62 bridge to the area around Blue Spring seem to be a constant 44 degrees F. There was quite a bit of surface activity in the river near the mouth of the almost empty Cedar Creek. Found that, if you know the channel, you can get up to the 62 bridge; however, if you are not familiar with it, avoid running aground and fish a bit downstream. I digress. We fished a couple of spots below the bridge and found that the trout liked any of the three colors we offered them, yellow, salmon peach and fluorescent orange. The trout were pretty good sized, which led us to have to throw back quite a few 'slots'. As you can see in the picture(s), that action did not include the 18 1/2 incher that brought JOY to the fisherman who caught and landed it. We had a great time and headed home about 11 AM. If you get the chance to go fish this weekend, by all means go for it! The high temperature today is expected to be 45 degrees F. under cloudy skies, with neither rain nor wind to hamper your fishing. Oh, did I forget to mention that NO generation is scheduled for the rest of the weekend? The weather for tomorrow is predicted to give us a high temperature of 48 degrees F. under mostly cloudy skies with winds from the south at 7 MPH, gusting to 10. Go get 'em!
