How lucky are we to spend April Fool's Day fishing with this young couple on their honeymoon! Then we enjoyed their company at a fish dinner tonight. Launched at Houseman Access this morning and began our quest for trout by trolling a bit downstream. Tried a couple of runs without any takers, so we moved our operation upstream as far as Bertrand Launch Ramp. Generation was in full swing and we came up empty. After the water began to slow, we picked up a couple of trout a little down river from Spider Creek Island. The bite was painfully slow, so we fished our way downstream to an area downstream from Houseman Access. We finished off our day with our limit and headed to the 'barn'. The bite was very slow today. Those fish we caught bit on yellow, nymph grape or rainbow power bait. They did not think too highly of pink or white. The water temperature at Houseman was 54 degrees F. (One can ALMOST hear the white bass moving this way!) The key to success today seems to be a barrel full of patience. Good luck and enjoy the great afternoon! The generation schedule calls for more generation from 1 through 3 PM at 44% of capacity. The weather is mostly cloudy with a chance of thundershowers around 7 PM. The high temperature today is expected to be 67 degrees F. with winds from the NNE at 8 MPH.
