Fished this morning at Bertrand Launch Ramp area and found that the trout bite, which over the past couple of months has been excellent, was very slow. However, as the morning progressed, it did improve. Getting one's limit still is not a problem, but cancel out the thirty fish mornings. The fish size ranged from 10 to 13 inches, and the trout were partial to yellow power bait. They also bit on salmon peach and rainbow, but not as quickly as on yellow. The change in weather might have been an explanation for the slower bite, but who knows? It was a little chilly early, but warmed up nicely when the sun peaked over the tree tops. If you go out early, be sure to dress warmly.
